The mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities [mental retardation], giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Texas Business Professionals of America wants to be a proud supporter of this organization and their efforts across our State. In order to help rally spirits to help contribute to this wonderful organization Texas Business Professionals of America is setting up a Chain Link of Love, Support, and Respect. The materials could be anything from white paper to construction paper.

In order to do so, please ask your local chapters to host a Special Olympics fundraiser on their campus by making paper links. The suggested price for each paper link is .50 cents and for the local chapters to link them together. Afterwards the local chapters will bring the links and profits to the Regional Leadership Conference. The Region will sponsor the donation to the Business Professionals of America, Texas Association. The links will be carried across the stage during opening ceremony at the State Leadership Conference and given to a representative from the Special Olympics of Texas by your Regional President.
